In a world that often tells us to fix, rush, or numb our pain, art therapy reminds us to listen and tune in. It offers a quiet, safe space where nothing has to make sense or look perfect. And according to art therapist and author Deborah Devaal, you don’t need to be skilled with a pencil or brush to successfully use art therapy as a tool. It reconnects us with a part of ourselves that’s often overlooked in the healing process: our deeper connection to the sub-conscious.
Dear friends, I want to share this beautiful, deep conversation I shared with the author of Social Freedom: The Path to Wellbeing. This book isn’t an art therapy book by the way. It takes you through various models for self-care and tuning in to your emotions one by one. What I like about Deborah’s approach is it’s so simple to get started with. Each page flows coherently from the one before. The Wellbeing Cup is a fantastic model for us to aspire to, to reach that place of Social Freedom. I’ll leave it to the interview for you to hear more about that. You can buy the book here.
